Giant Magnet!

I suppose they justified this because of Spidey's clinging ability...

Flip-It!

spidey_flipit.jpg

I remember seeing these things advertised in Gold Key Comics, but never the Marvel books! Throw it in the air, and the weighted "feet" make it land upright! Or something like that, anyway.

Available through gumball machines in the 1960s!

Flashlight!

spidey_flashlight

A bit more modern than I usually save photos of, this flashlight is kind of cool, don't you think?

Fisher-Price Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Movie Cartridge!

spidey_fisherpricemoviecart.JPG

This is another of those film-loop cassettes you'd snap into a movie viewer, and when you look into it and turn the crank, you can watch a cartoon!

Find 'Ems!

spidey_findems

This must be similar to the "Where's Waldo?" kind of stuff, but here you use a magnifying glass-like piece to help search for things hidden in pictures!

Eye Magazine Spider-Man One-Shot!

Here's an interesting item... for Eye Magazine, Marvel produced this half-size comic, based on one of the original issues, although a bit cut-up and digested down!

Energized Spider-Man Helicopter!

spidey_energizedcopterbox.JPG

I have no idea why just about anyone with a Spider-Man license decided he needed a helicopter...

Empire Toys Spider-Copter!

spidey_empirecopter.jpg

Empire Toys got the Spider-Man and Hulk Licenses , as did other companies, and decided to get into the action figure accessory market by producing vehicles scaled for the Megos! This Spider-Copter is scaled for the 8" Spider-Man Mego, and yes, they did a Hulk copter, too.

Durham Water Gun!

spidey_durhamwatergun73

From 1973, this is the same kind of squirt gun as AHI (and other companies) made, with the water squirting out of the character's mouth!

Durham Mini-Winder!

This is kind of a cute item... wouldn't mind having a whole bunch of these of different heroes!

AHI Spider-Car!

spidey_dragster

Here's a pretty poor quality photo of the Spider-Car AHI produced that got "charged up" when you pulled the string on the back of it.

Remco CSF Helicopter!

spidey_csfcopter1

Whatever Batman got, Spider-Man also got... at least so far as toys go, anyway! So, since Batman got a CSF Batcopter, Spidey had to have one, too... never mind that there was no Spider-Copter in the comics, of course!

Crazy Foam!

spidey_crazyfoam.JPG

Remember this stuff? It was a huge craze for a while, but like all crazes, it seemed to die out quickly. You can still find this stuff today, with other licensed characters like Go Diego Go!, Dora the Explorer, and some Disney characters. It's basically soap in a pre-foaming form, and why anyone thought it was cool to have Spidey vomit soap on you during bathime is beyond me (and I say that while remembering I wanted this stuff when I was a kid)... then again, anything Spidey that relates to bathing seems to have issues that weren't thought of back then...

Cork Gun and Handcuffs!

spidey_corkgun

OK, major points to this manufacturer for using a Ditko Spidey on the card art. However, those points are all lost by misspelling "Colossal" on the card, and it goes into the negatives when you consider how inappropriate a Spider-Man guy toy and handcuffs is... It's another example of something getting a Spidey sticker slapped on it, regardless of whether it makes sense!

Yeah, I know there are several shots of the same toy here... and yes, I absolutely noticed how badly Spidey was miscolored on the card for the Spider-Copter!

Color and Recolor Mugs!

spidey_colormugs

Cool idea here, if you ask me... it just needed more of a variety! Again, just looking at the box, these were two-piece mugs that you could insert a pre-printed picture into, which you'd first color in! I think that if they had included, say, 10 different pre-printed coloring pictures, these might've done a bit better... but I could well be wrong! For all I know, this had distribution problems that doomed the thing!

spidey_colormugs.jpg

Ah, here's a better photo of the thing! There's an advantage of working on this blog so far ahead of time! I can also see on this that there were 6 interchangeable coloring inserts, so apparently my thoughts on how it could've been more successful are just a complete load of hogwash, eh? Oh, well...

Rub 'n Play Set and Colorforms!

spidey_colorforms

spidey_colorforms

These two items are kind of similar in some ways... and very different in others! You're probably familiar with what Colorforms are, so I'll focus on the Rub 'n Play set... The Rub 'n Play set appears to be like temporary tattoos combined with sticker books, in that you'd rub the images onto the cardboard sheets, which were either perforated (I hope not, for the kids' sake) or not, and you'd cut them out to play with.

At least, that's what I can glean from the box, anyway!
